I am a fan of the books, a great fan, and I am a believer in the original storylines integrity. I am disappointed in the removal of Tom Bombadil, who was one of my favourite characters, but, I am sure this will be for the best in the films as it was decided by people closely connected to the film. On a different note, I am gonna be so old when they are released! I think I will die of anticipation before they are in the cinemas for me to watch!
