What? No Bombadil?

It goes without saying that I am very pleased that a film is being made of perhaps one of the greatest stories ever told.

I am however very disappointed to hear that Tom Bombadil will be excluded from the film. Whilst I realise that certain things were bound to be cut from the book, surely a place could have been found for Tom, one of the most enigmatic characters in the books. Just my opinion but I am pretty gutted about this.
