Sauron & Bombadil: One and the Same?

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, also an ardent Tolkien fan, who mentioned a rumour that Sauron and Bombadil were the same person, with a sort of schizophrenic multiple-personality thing going on. Now I'm not saying he's right, but I had never heard this before and was just wondering if anyone else had come across this rumour.
