It is my opinion that Sean Connnery would have been the only choice for Gandalf!!! He has the maturity, the talent, and the ability to play in any role as his past roles can attest. If one was to read the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings the casting director would realize that a mistake has been made. This movie has been a long waited event for many loyal Tolkien readers and it is disappointing that Sir Sean and a few others have been overlooked for lesser known and talented actors!!!  It is a very saddening choice that has been made. It is a shame that true talent has been ignored in lieu of newcomers of short lived fame.
