I have seen the internet preview for the movies and was very impressed, but I don't see what Neal C. can complain about with the size of the Hobbits. As other people have already pointed out, they ARE Dwarf about Dwarf size, and they could be mistaken for children. And about Gandalf lifting Sam, well... he is a Maiar, which is not a god, but more like an angel, that makes him pretty strong, I would think. Remember, he did defeat a Balrog in Moria, stand up to the Witch-King at the gates of Gondor. I assume after these feats he could easily lift a full grown man with both hands.
