The Silmarillion for Cinema

In response to Brian K, I've always felt that there are two "sequences" from The Silmarillion that would make a brilliant movie.  The first, The Story of Beren and Luthien.  The Second, the last days of Numenor - the Akallabeth (the sequence from whence Ar Pharazon assumes the throne to the landfall of the Faithful). The Story of Turin Turambar would make good epic cinema - but it is too long and depressing. Actually, if Jackson's trilogy turns a penny or two at the box office, he would do well to turn attention to The Silmarillion!
