First of all I would like to say to Sahl to hush up, and do not try to make yourself a tolkien nerd, because actually we all are. I perfectly know wher, when and how Tom appears, and he IS relevant for the developing of the story, he saves the hobbits twice... how will the party go across the old forest now? Because it would be very unreal to let loose a couple of hobbits without experience in a living forest and them walking freely out of it. Just think a little...

But I hope PJ has thought of a good way of solving this problem. I have a lot of faith in him and am pleased as what I know from the film. Oh! Thanks to Yvette R. for the agreement of Robin Williams as Tom Bombadil!
