The Lord of the Rings is a trilogy. In my opinion, this is wrong. A trilogy is a series of three related different works, and TLOTR is not that, it's but a single book published in three volumes. My question then is, are the three movies independent of each other, or can you skip one of them and see the others without any problem?. Because if the answer is the latter, we've got a trilogy, and if it's the former, there is not a trilogy at all, but a film divided into three parts. Could anyone clear my doubts?
