Many Partings (continued)
Ray MacL.

As someone who has been reading and studying JRRT of and on for almost 40 years, I originally started monitoring this site because some of you actually sounded like you knew what you were talking about and had intelligent comments. End that. This will be my last message.

Too many of you who claim to be Tolkien "fans" miss the point of what he was doing and are basically "hobbit wannabes". To understand Tolkien's place in Fantastic Fiction, read Lord Dunsany, William Morris, or H. Ryder Haggart, don't put on pointy ears or furry feet to go to Cons. And while you're at it, read "The Golden Bough", Joseph Campbell, and "The Mabinogion" as well. Thomas S, you were the straw that broke this old camel's back. I sincerely believe that you wouldn't understand The Silmarillion even if you read it a thousand times. Pure Tolkien is not for little boys of any age. It requires intellectual maturity. Grow up. Goodbye. My Grey Ship just sailed.
