By George, I think we've got it! I'm sorry that I misunderstood your point. I thought you meant that she was trying to be a man when, as you say, she was simply seeking release through assuming a man's role.

Eowyn is a fascinating character, perhaps because so little is said about her. Tolkien leaves lots of room for speculation. Oh, and about the feminist thing. I just wanted to make sure the thought would never enter your mind. Nothing could be farther from the truth :-)
