A Novelization of the Movies?

Someone must have really gone nuts out there! I mean, who needs the novelization of the movie of the book "Lord of the Rings"? Thats just ridiculous!

Or rather, perfect merchandising? New Line will not profit from any sales pushes the original story may receive. But, if they publish their own books...
I canīt believe they have the guts to do such nonsense.
