One Ring's Power
Jo Q.C.

Jim and Andrew, you bring up very good points on the One Ring. I think that the answer is clear, the Ring is powerful but its power is of a different sort.

JRR Tolkien works in sublties. He drops hints instead of directly stating the answers. His main "character" in LOTR (the One Ring) works in the same way. Instead of overpowering its victim directly, it tempts him (ie: Sam with it in Mordor). It slowly leads its victim into self destruction. That is the Ring's REAL power.
