Galadriel: Reply to Lee C.
John R.

We should look on the bright side whenever possible, considering that turning Tolkien's into popular movies is a seemingly impossible task.

Cate Blanchett as Galadrial is an inspired choice. Pam Anderson? She'd never agree to move to New Zealand for a year, so that wouldn't happen.

Now, Bo Derek as Galadriel, that'd be something. Beautiful, slightly aging, sheer see-through gown, already comes with slightly pointy ears.

And consider who might have been cast as Eowyn: Meg Ryan? Liv Tyler? Kate Moss?

So, although the plot may be inscrutible - I was half-way through the second book before someone told me that Sauron and Saruman were different characters - the casting and scenery looks good. 2 out of 3.
