Of all the servants of Morgoth he was the most perilous. He had the ability to take on different hues and guises. After the fall of Morgoth, Sauron fled from Manwë and the sentence of the Valar and hid in the shadows of Middle-earth. Through many guises he befriended and deceived the Elves and Men of Eä. At this time the smiths of Ost-in-Edhil made the Rings of Power. Sauron guided and observed their labors. But secretly Sauron forged One Ring in Orodruin to control the others and bind their powers so that they would only last as long as the One did. Then Sauron made open war with the Elves. He forever attempted to gain control of all the Rings of Power. So began the Black Years and the prelude to the fall of Sauron. |

It's been confirmed that Sauron
will appear in The Fellowship of the Ring during a flashback to the Last Alliance
when Isildur cut the Ring from Sauron's finger. It's not yet know if he will appear in the
other two films of the trilogy. |
