Casting Call for Aspiring Hobbits
Unknown Author

Canterbury people seeking a role, be it ever so small, in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings will get their chance next week.

Casting calls will be held in Christchurch and Ashburton for people of all ages, shapes, and sizes for roles as extras. Casting agents will interview and photograph over 16 hopefuls at Christchurch Boys' High School next Wednesday between 1pm and 4pm, and on July 24, between 10am and 3pm.

Another casting call will be held for children aged four to 12 at the Tinwald Memorial Hall, Grahams Road, Ashburton, on July 25, between 11am and 4pm.

A spokeswoman for the production company, Three Foot Six Ltd, said applicants would be required to fill in a form and have their photograph taken, during which time casting agents would assess their character, looking for people for the many extras roles in the film.

Because of the lengthy processing procedure, applicants should not expect to be contacted for quite some time, she said.
