Tyler 'Rings' Casting Confirmed

New Line Cinema has officially announced that Liv Tyler has joined the cast of Peter Jackson’s big screen version of the epic trilogy Lord of the Rings. Confirming casting rumors over the last couple of days, the studio has announced that Tyler will play the part of the "Queen of the Fairies," which I must assume means the previously reported Arwen.

Though it appears that she has been in consideration for some time, the word is that the one final hurdle to get over was her schedule which included a part in Robert Altman’s next film, Dr. T. and the Women. According to Variety, an arrangement was worked out which would allow Tyler to temporarily leave the Rings production for a three week stint on Altman’s pic.

The trilogy, which will be shot in a nine month period of time, end-on-end-on-end, has a budget of $130M. Shooting is scheduled to start this fall.
