Injury on Tolkien Set

Renowned Tolkien illustrator Alan Lee, who broke his arm on Wednesday, was back at work yesterday and able to continue as conceptual artist for the $360 million Lord of the Rings film trilogy, a project spokeswoman said.

Lee, an Englishman famed for lavish illustrations of J R R Tolkien's fantasy books, is understood to have been injured while on the set.

Publicist Claire Raskind said Lee's broken arm was not his drawing arm. She did not know how Lee was injured and said he was not available for comment.

Shooting on Wellington film maker Peter Jackson's epic began in Wellington's Mt Victoria green belt on Monday.
