Reports of unusual noise in the Akatarawa area kept Upper
Hutt Police on their toes recently . . . the noises turned out to be those of a Science
Fiction kind.
Night filming for the Peter Jackson directed trilogy Lord Of
The Rings took place at Harcourt Park for three nights. To avoid problems with sightseers,
the filming locations had been kept "top secret" -- consequently local residents
were not aware of the filming. Upper Hutt Police received calls reporting unusual noises
from residents. On investigation the noises were found to be associated with the filming.
The 400 cast and crew have finished working at Harcourt Park
and are moving to Queenstown for more location shooting next week. They are expected back
in the Wellington area in mid-January. |
