Blanchett Turns Down Role in Favor of LOTR

According to the folks at SpiderManHype.com, Cate Blanchett has turned down an offer to be in an upcoming Spiderman movie. Sam Rami, who is currently filming The Gift, wanted her to leave six weeks of her schedule free for shooting on Spiderman after The Gift wraps up (pun not intended).

Blanchett had to refuse Rami because she will be tied up for a year with Lord of the Rings after shooting on The Gift is over. SpiderManHype.com did not mention what role she was asked to play.

Is it just me, or has the frequency of requests for Cate Blanchett to appear in other films increased since Lord of the Rings filming started?
