I was browsing Sir Ian McKellen's (Gandalf) official web site this evening when I came across his cast list. It shows Nathaniel Lees as Ugluk the Orc! This came as a suprise. If it's on McKellen's site, it's got to be official.

As usual, I proceeded to peruse his IMDB listing. The LOTR casting folks must really like the Hercules and Xena television series, because Lees, like so many other LOTR actors, has appeared on both of these shows.

His movie career began with Other Halves in 1984. Some of his most notable screen appearances include "The Legend of William Tell," a 1998 TV series, and the film Bonjour Timothy (1995). Overall, he appears to be an actor well-suited to his monumental task of portraying the sinister Ugluk.
