But that's not to say Jackson hasn't been up to his old tricks. He says he's still coming up with a world first in his treatment of an animated character. Gollum will be computer-generated but will "retain the essence of the actor" - so much so that Jackson hopes to "break through a barrier" in the way Andy Serkis "acts" the part of Gollum.
