Rings Party Tickets Scalped for $1500
Staff Reporter

Tickets to a massive Lord of the Rings' wrap party on Wellington's waterfront on December 22 are being scalped for more than $1,500, sources close to the production say.

The end-of-shoot party, called Escape from Middle Earth, free for cast and crew, is rumoured to include New Zealander entertainers Dave Dobbyn, dancer Michael Parmenter and composer/entertainer Gareth Farr.

A number of stars are expected to attend the bash, rumoured to cost $100,000, including Liv Tyler who plays elf warrior princess Arwen.

A source said tickets were being scalped over the internet which could cause massive security problems for the 2400 cast and crew plus up to 600 other guests.

Film publicist Claire Raskind would not comment on the reports or on who would be attending.

The event will mark the end of 15 months of filming J R R Tolkien's fantasy classic in New Zealand.

The first of three films is scheduled to be released late next year.
