The Hosting Situation & Other News

Some of you today are visiting this site on an entirely new server. I hope the speed is satisfactory. Our domain transfer has not yet gone through completely, so some are still getting directed to the "old" version of the site. The domain should be completely transferred within the next 24 hours or so.

Regarding our hosting situation, a few things have changed. Firstly, the vast image directory has been split off onto a separate server, which is kind of slow. If you notice speed problems with the image directory, I apologize, but it can't be helped. This site does so much traffic that it's getting quite expensive to host, even with revenue from banner advertisements.

This brings me to my next point. As you might have read earlier this month, eUniverse has dumped all of their advertising affiliates. This means that we're moving to a new ad network, CelebrityBlvd.com. Nothing will change in terms of banners (we'll still have one at the top and bottom of each page), but we may occasionally run pop-up ad campaigns. We're designing these campaigns to be as unobtrusive as possible (pop-ups only appear when you exit the site, and only twice per unique user per session), but I'll admit that ANY pop-up can be annoying. Again, I apologize, but hosting charges for us are increasing.

You can also let us know about any problems you might have with the new host, VeoWeb, although I've been very impressed with their speed and service so far, so I don't think we'll have trouble.
