Frodo's Dream
Danny
Hello all. Thanks to all those who answered my question about other Maiar.
I have another question that has intrigued me as I am going on my Tolkien Marathon. In fellowship, Frodo has a dream where he sees a sea of trees from a tower, then hears the sea and sees a white tower.
I speculate that the tower he sees is a foreshadow of the towers of the blessed realm that he sees when he leaves middle earth, but have no idea. I also wonder if anybody knows what the sea of trees seen from a tower refer too.
This dream has always made me wonder. Like I said, I can guess at it, but still have no idea what Tolkien was getting at in that dream.
Later he dreams something that is very obvious when he is in Bombadil's house. There he sees Gandalf escape from Orthanc, though he doesn't realize it until he hears Gandalf's story at the Council. That is a separate dream as you probably know. Just thought I would make sure that we are clear on which dream I am asking about. Not that one, but the one before that of the forrest, sea and the tower.
Anybody have some cool quotes from the stuff I haven't read? I know the trilogy pretty solidly, and am getting more versed in Silmarillion, but may or may not ever study the rest more extensively.
