Lover of Words
Matthew
I too am a wordsmith like Tokien. I do it in a different form. I'm a reporter. But his work inspires me still. When you love words, even just analyzing them, his work is flawless, and flows like water down a drain. I read the series many times, and enjoyed the cartoons that came out in the 80s when I was a kid.
I'm impressed with many of you, who have spent a great deal of time studying the Lord Of The Rings books. This is my first time on this site.
Now that the movies are, it regenerates my excitement with the books. I really enjoyed the first one, Fellowship of the Ring. I'm looking forward to the second one.
My only concern is what will be left out. There were some things in Fellowship that were left out, that I think were important to the rest of the book. Take for instance the gifts given by Lady Galadrial. Those cloaks helped get the fellowship out of a bunch of tight spots. And what about Gymli's love for the lady. He carried her hair.
I'm worried that the Ents will not be in the Twin Towers. They are the ones who tore down the first tower. I would hate to see them invent a new way for Sauron to lose his castle. And not to mention they were awesome characters. Does anyone know if they will be included in the next film?
Tom Bombadil was another great character, but I could see them cutting him. And it's only because he sings, and that might not transfer well. They cut out all the hobbits walking songs, and their poetry, and I could understand why. You can't have everything. But an important character like Treebeard could look great in CGI, and I'd hate to see him get lost in the shuffle of recreating this amazing series of books.
If someone know the answer to my question, let me know.
Matt
p.s. I know I probably spelled the names of the characters wrong, I just didn't take the time to look them up.
