In Response to Vagor
Lady of Rohan
Not having my copy of The Silmarillion at hand to reference, I don't know how accurate this essay will be, but here goes:
Vagor, I think Sauron can maybe take several different physical forms as he sees fit. Perhaps PJ thought a Sauron like what we saw in the Last Alliance movie scene would seem more intimidating to a host of seasoned warriors like the Elves and Dunedain.
This probably doesn't answer your question very well, but hopefully it will stimulate a new topic of debate.
Also on the subject of the Last Alliance movie scene: I thought I saw Legolas among the ranks of Elven warriors. Am I seeing things? If that was Legolas, is he really that old? I would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me just how old he is. (I know he must have been over five hundred years old at the point when he, Gimli, and Aragorn reach Edoras.
"Five hundred times have the red leaves fallen in Mirkwood in my home since then...and but a little while does that seem to us."
"...I have seen many an oak grow from acorn to ruinous age."
These are the only hints of his age I could find. Is there anything I've missed? Thanks for any feedback!!!
