Christian Hobbit
This is a reply to Peter D.
I don't know about you, but I have read a couple of articles that said that Lord of the Rings was just a fantasy, and had nothing to do with Christianity.
NOT ONCE, and I say it again, NOT ONCE did I ever say in my article that Aragorn WAS Jesus. Aragorn is what is called a "CHRIST FIGURE" or "type of Christ." They are ones who were a type of King, and a spiritual, christian leader, or priest, over a group of people. I don't know if you have any spiritual background at all, but if you would read the Bible you would find that Adam (the first man), Moses (the one who led the Israelites out of Egypt), and many other people in the Bible are a "type of Christ." Adam may not seem like one at first, but he was the oldest male alive at the time he was created, and was commanded, by God, to watch over everything, like a king, and pass on the word of God, just like a priest. It says in Genesis 1:26,"Then God said,’ Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them RULE over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' "(New American Standard Version) At the time Adam was created, he did not know that the world would fall into sin, and was placed to rule over everything. Until Adam died he was to be King over all, and tell the story of the coming savior that was promised to him, which would be Jesus. Pastors, or fathers (what ever type of christian you are), can be looked at as a "type of Christ," if you stretch the meaning a bit, for they are shepards of the church they preach at, and help with spirtual needs
I agree, though, that Isildur and Eärendil were a "type of Christ." For they were both the Kings, and spiritual leaders of the people of Middle-Earth. The message I was trying to point out was to some people who said Lord of the Rings was just a simple fantasy, and had nothing to do with Christianity, which did not include everybody, just a few who said that it was just a mere epic fantasy.
In the bible it does say that "non-Christians" are "the enemy" and "are ungodly...wretched sinners that need to be saved," as you so eloquently put it. For non-Christians can take you down the path of unrighteousness, and lead you to eternal damnation in hell. It was God who also had cities destroyed, and people killed in the Holy land, who were not christians at all, by Joshua; do to their wickedness in God’s eyes. The wickedness included idol worship, sexual pleasures, and anything that is considered a sin. (If you don't understand, read the book of Joshua, in the Old Testament )
If God were to do what he used to do, as he did in the time of Joshua to David, there would not be many cults like Mormons, Christian Scientists, false religions like Muslims, and Buddhists, or atheists.
So stop putting words in my mouth, or in my typing in this matter.
