No one knows exactly how old Legolas is. We do know however that Arwen was the last elf child born in middle earth and she is 2777 years old in The Fellowship of the Ring. So we can only deduce that he is older than this. And while we are on the subject of Legolas, Why do people think he was black or dark brown haired? It says in the Hobbit that Thranduil his father has gold hair, so would it not make sense that Legolas did too? And it says in the unfinished tales that Thranduil is not really one of the elfs that stayed in middle earth and never went to Valinor. But is, like Gladriel is an elf from the west who happens to be very wise, and a natural leader. The details of how he became king are not known.
