I've made a boo-boo! On checking up details, I've since discovered that Legolas is 2,931 years old at the time the events of LOTR take place. Ah, well. But at least I was right about one thing; the Last Alliance does predate his birth (yet rather by 29 years, not over a thousand!!), so he could not have been there. What a self-induced cyber-humiliation!
