Sindar and Noldorin Elves
Richard P
To Elfhelm, in regard to your question about the difference between Sinarin and Noldorian Elves.
Now, I am writing this off the top of my head here, and may have got it all mixed up, but I'll try anyways!
Ok, The Sindar and Noldor are both two groups of Elves. Both the Noldor and the Sindar were summoned, along with the Teleri and the Silvan Elves, to go into the West and dwell in Aman. The Noldor, Sindar and Teleri all agreed to go. The Silvan Elves are those who did not wish to go and stayed behind.
The Teleri were the quickest of the Eldar to reach the West, they all passed over together and did not wander on the way. They then remained in the West.
The Noldor were the largest group, they took a wandering course and came much more slowly. These are the Elves of whom Feanor belonged to, and who came back into Middle-earth from Aman.
The Sindar are those Elves who decided on the way to Aman that they would rather stay in Middle-earth, or circumstance prevented them some leaving. However, since they had accepted the summons, and since their leader was Elu Thingol (Olwe)who had seen the light of Aman, this group of Elves was accounted as part of the Willing, and of the High Elves; rather than Silvan Elves.
Right, I hope I got that right, and if I didn't, I'm sure someone will correct me!!! ;-)
