Evil vs. Eagles
Medhros

In reading the Hobbit, L.O.T.R, and the Silmarillion, I have found that all Melkor & Sauron had to do to conqure Middle Earth was to distroy the Eagles.Without Throndor and his desendents numerous catastrafies would have befallen the Free Peoples. However, since most of their wrath was given to the Elves and to Men, they did not achieve this would-be death blow.
