To Christian Hobbit
Wandering Wizard
This is in response to Christian Hobbit's most recent post of 9-14-02. I won't waste a whole lot of time with this because I'd like the debate to stick to Tolkien related topics, but I must correct Christian Hobbit's statements that were drastically incorrect.
He stated: "If God were to do what he used to do, as he did in the time of Joshua to David, there would not be many cults like Mormons, Christian Scientists, false religions like Muslims, and Buddhists, or atheists. "
You call yourself Christian, yet you're suggesting that God has changed since the time of David? You said "if God were to do what he used to do..." Don't Christians beleive in an unchanging God?
Anyway, I really, REALLY didn't appreciate what you said about those other religeons either. You call those religeons false, or cults, yet I don't doubt that your own lack of knowledge led you to say this. Have you studied them? Do you even know what they beleive? Modern Christian Scientists probably beleive they've found the truth, and Mormon's beleive in Christ, and are therefore Christians. Many Muslims and Buddhists have better standards than Christians, and beleive in their religions.
This is a website devoted to the upcoming movies. I come here daily. I love to read the debates, except when people start going overboard with the religeon stuff. LOTR is just a fantasy, but the best fantasy to ever have existed. Tolkien says so himself (that it's only a fantasy). So I apologize to Christian Hobbit if I've offended, but you must realize that your statement was a little offensive to others too. Mormons are not a cult. I am a Mormon, but I've already deviated too much from the topic that should be debated on this site, so let's keep our articles Tolkien related shall we?
