Strider and the Elves
Rune of Mirkwood
I thought it was intersting to learn that:
Strider was raised by Elrond, as he was orphaned as a child and raided in the house of Elrond.
I wondered, from seeing the Fellowship of the Ring so many times over, how he knew Legolas; how he knew Haldir of Lorien, when he first greeted him; how he knew how to speak Elvish? These three questions have now, been easily answered. It makes sense. Also, "the Elves, being a long-lived race", Legolas knows Strider and is well aware of his identity."
It is quoted, "Mirkwood, a once-beautiful forest, is now being overrun with Orcs, wolves, and other dark, wandering spirits". This is why Legolas was sent as "an envoy of the Woodland Elves of Mirkwood" on behalf of his people and his father, Thranduil, the King of Mirkwood.
Arwen is the grand-daughter of the Lady Galadriel and was raised "by the Elves of Lothlorien, but returned to her father's domain (Rivendell)". She apparently, is a millennia old and filled with the wisdom of Ages and the lore of the Elves.
Elrond is Half-elven! He can trace his line directly back the the hero Beren - a mortal man - and Luthien, the Elven princess who fell in love with Beren, gave up her immortality (like Arwen wishes to do for Strider -) and lived out her days with Beren in Middle-Earth. Elrond also is the bearer of Vilya, the Ring of Air!
I hope you found this as interesting as I did!
