Re: Sindar and Noldorin Elves
Ar-pharazon

Richard, please don't go spouting off from the top of your head anymore. I think you managed to get it about 100% wrong :) The three groups of elves that traveled to Aman were the Vanyar, Noldor, and Teleri. The Vanyar, lead by Ingwe, were the smallest and quickest group to reach Aman. The Noldor, lead by Finwe, was the middle group in both size and speed. The largest and slowest, lead by brothers Elwe (Thingol) and Olwe, were the Teleri. Those who made the journey are called the Eldar. Those of the Eldar that reached Aman are referred to as the Calaquendi. The Eldar that remained in Beleriand are the Sindar. The Silvan elves are actually Avari (elves that never attempted the journey) who eventually make their way to the forests east ot the Misty Mountains. The Silvan elves make up a good portion of the elves who live in Lothlorien and the Woodland realm at the time of LOTR. The Noldor live in Rivendell and Lindon. Maybe a few Noldor, other than Galadriel, Arwen, and Celebrian, dwell in Lothlorien. The Sindar dwell in all the realms. Hope this helps. As the Lady of Rohan mentions, alot of this is in the Silmarillion, and there is a chart in the back on all the various group of the Elves.

To the Lady: Although Thingol was the King of the Sindar, he technically was a Calaquendi. Remember, Orome took Elwe, Finwe, and Ingwe to Aman to see things first hand before they came back to lead the journey of the elves to Aman. Also, Earendil is a descendant of Tuor and Idril. She was a Noldo and a Calaquendi. I think you meant Elros and Elrond.
