One More Comment on the Christianity Debate
Aerin

I've never posted anything on here before, but I think the time is right. I've just been reading several postings regarding Tolkien and Christianity in his work, and I thought I'd mention something.
While I don't agree with Christian Hobbit's opinions on Mormons and other "non-Christian" groups, I wanted to relate an experience I had with my father.
We went to see "The Fellowship of the Ring" last winter. Partway through the movie, he leaned over and asked me in a loud whisper if Aragorn was supposed to be a Christ-like figure. At the time I was just annoyed with him for talking and distracting people around us, but now I look at it in a different light. Especially after reading Christian Hobbit's postings.
Personally, I don't necessarily look for religious motifs or such in movies, but I find it interesting that both my father and Christian Hobbit noticed the same thing. I'd be curious to know just what denomination he belonged to.
I don't know whether Tolkien meant for his stories to represent anything or not. I do know that I enjoy his books, and that's good enough for me.
