Another Way
Nathanael147

Because of the time it takes, I do not know if anyone else has thought of this but, I am a 25 time reader of the LOTR. Whenever our beloved characters get in a jam, how do they get out of it??? When Bilbo , Gandalf, Thorin and Company were treed by the Wargs and Goblins, when Galdalf was a prisoner in Orthanc, and that fateful April day when Frodo stood in indecision in the Sammath Naur...yes the eagles!!! So, why didn't the Lord of the Eagles just fly Frodo and Legolas, let's say, or even Elrond, with the Ring to the Sammath Naur and toss in the fateful ring? It would have saved fingers, dropped wizard's and other lives and still the Fellowship would have been doing "the unexpected." Wouldn't have made a very good story though, would it?
