More Fate/Destiny
Galactus

I see it this way that a "creator" does know/see the future, and can distinguish between what is possible and what will actually come to be. That is not to say however that an individual does not have "free will" merely because the "creator" already knows the outcome. People cannot see the future and as such do not know the full consequences to all their actions. As such, everything we do is perhaps to us, merely the illusion of free will. In other words, because we do not know the future as a "creator" would, everything we do is our own choice. At the same time the "creator" would still have already known our action, but when it comes down to it, the person chose, without the influence of foresight. That make sense?... Now for a quick LOTR reference.

I also think that Gandalf was not thinking ahead to any degree when dangling from the bridge. He was afraid at that moment, and I would think that if he knew that his death would not prove to be permanent or lasting that he would not have been so worried. Something I bet Annatar can give us more insight on... how many times have you died now? Four by my count, that’s a lot of experience.
