Tim, I have not been able to successfully download the trailers either, but maybe I just don't have the patience to sit and wait for my computer to download it. I don't feel like seeing Gandalf falling or Boromir getting shot again.

I usually like books better, but most of the time still enjoy movies. Even though the changes sometimes disappoint me, I understand that they are often necessary. For "The Lord of the Rings," I got confused the first time I saw it, and had to see it again after reading "The Hobbit" and "The Fellowship of the Ring."

Lisa, I agree with you. "The Hobbit" is a good book. At least it has a happier ending.

Audre, I agree that Sam is a good friend and servant. The hobbits are such nice characters.

Ferry, I sometimes feel like going on adventures, too. Maybe I've been exposed to too many adventure stories by movies, books, and games. Unfortunately, adventures like the Middle-Earth one don't seem possible in the modern world.

Tolkein did not portray all women as helpless, either. He was trying to match his society, and used Eowyn to prove that women could be strong, too.
