My Response
Christian Hobbit.
I have read all the articles that have pertained towards me.
To the LDS “Member.” Yes, I do know about LDS beliefs. Many of them go against God's will. For instance, the idea of polygamy is only a Mormon belief. I know that some LDS denominations don’t practice this, but many of them believe that it is okay to do so. Not one single Christian denomination deals with it. It reads in Genesis 2:24,"For this reason a man shall leaves his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall be one flesh." Wife is not plural, but singular. That is one trait that does not make you a Christian. The other is your added scripture, like the book of Mormon. Joseph Smiths writing of this book was a “no, no.” It explicitly says, in the book of Revelation, that if one were to add to scripture, it would be wrong to do so. I am a Missouri Synod Lutheran, and do not recognize the LDS, or Mormons as we usually call them, as Christians. For many of your doctrines, and theology contradict with the word of God. You say you believe in the Bible, but that you also believe in the works of many of your “forefathers.” You do to an extent, but to the point where you don’t like it, and change it to interpret it the way you want it to. That makes God a liar then, does it not.
To the atheist, Wandering Wiizard. I am one who does not consider atheism to be a religion, but one who lacks religion. You say that you have scientific evidence that evolution is true. I am one who has studied evolution great extent, and have come to find it as blasphemy. One thing that contradicts with evolution is the sun itself. The sun is getting smaller, losing tons of gas daily. If the world were as old as you say it is, there would have been such heat on the earth, it would have incinerated the world. Other evidence includes the make up of any living thing. God says he as larger then the universe, but smaller then anything found in the world. Atoms are as such. It was thought they were the smallest thing there is in this would, till we found proton and all that. What will happen as are technology advances. I bet that we will still find even smaller things in the items of an atom. How is it that we are made in such a complex manner? I would like an answer to that if I could.
“Jesus said to Him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one come to the Father but through me.’” John 14:6. That verse then sets Christians aside from many other religions. For instance, Jews believe in God, but rejected Christ as the one true savior of the world. That fact changed the relationship between God, and the Jews. Muslims are the same way, they only believe in one God, but do not know Jesus.
When I said” If God were to do what he used to do, as he did in the time of Joshua to David, there would not be many cults like Mormons, Christian Scientists, false religions like Muslims, and Buddhists, or atheists.” I was referring mostly to the book of Joshua. God put the heads of many nations into the hands of the Israelites, do to their wickedness, and for not believing in the true God. They were pagans, and idol worshipers, and knew nothing of God; therefore, they were destroyed due to the non-belief in God. Some of you are taking the “Unchanging God” part a little to serious. For all that changed after Christ came and died on the cross for us. If God were as unchanging as you are receiving it, he would have never sent Jesus to die for us. God also would have never chosen a people like the Israelites of the Old Testament.
I don’t take back what I said about all the religions, for it has been taught to me all my life that Jesus is the only way to heaven. “For god so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16. Many of you may recognize that verse. It is the most known verse out of the whole Bible, in my opinion. I have very little tolerance for people who do not believe in God’s one true son Jesus, as the one true savior. For Christian tolerance is not of the world. If Christians were supposed to be as tolerant as you say we are to be, then we should except the worlds beliefs, like evolution, Buddhism, Islam, the cults, I could go on with a list forever. That is against what God teaches us to do in the Bible. For Jesus is the only way to heaven. Acceptance of anything else would mean certain damnation to all Christians.
Many of you have said that I have used too much scripture from the Old Testament. If you don’t read the New Testament, you will not have realized that Christ himself quoted many time Old Testament scripture.
As for the letters of Tolkien and saying that there was no Christian allegory, it was before he died that he did admit to it that there was, he said himself, “God is the Lord, of angels, and of men-and of elves.”
I have read many articles saying that this site was only to be for discussing The Lord of the Rings movies. The movies would not have been possible with out the books, and with the books come the debate of Christianity and LOTR. Unfortunately for those who want the debate to stop, it is here to stay.
Some of you may say stop with just the religion thing, but I thought it would be necessary that I write this response, for I also have been taught to stand up for myself, and my beliefs.
