Re: Women in LOTR

I know it's become a requirement that every book, film or other work made today be politically correct and show all people as good, completely equal, and exactly the same. I'm sure I'll be shunned from society for saying it but let's face it men are more likely to sign up to die in war, I definitely think this is to their detriment. Also, as much has been made in this forum about Tolkien trying to give England it's own mythology you have to remember that women in any kinds of number participating in war is an extremely new practice. Mythology is usually set in a historical context so it would only make sense for LOTR to focus on men fighting the battles and the women being the exception and not the rule. Although, if you'll notice the one fighting woman doesn't do a shabby job of it.
