I find it funny that people assume that because it never shows the fellowship eating in the movie, they wish to imply that nobody ate. Okay so that is not neccesarily what the questions are about, but I just don't see where the question comes from. Has anyone noticed how it never shows any of the fellowship sneezing? (I could chose other things, but chose sneezing for good taste) I guess nobody in middle earth ever sneezes. Note also in the book TTT it mentions how Sam was a good cook and often cooked for the fellowship. Of course the Hobbits cooking was not just for themselves. It is safe to assume that the Hobbits were by far the best cooks while others were better wariors etc. It seems only natural that the best cooks would cook for everyone.
