Re: Entwives Theory
Danny

Bravo old chap! I just wanted to compliment you on your originality, and a reasonable job of building a pretty entertainning theory. Of course I don't say you are wrong or right, just wanted to say I enjoyed your essay very much.

I am surprised you didn't bring up how Pippin talks about how the Old Forrest has a feel much like the old Took Hobbit Hole only much older and undisturbed.

I do have a few questions about the idea though. If the Entwives were female, as seems logical to conclude from the name and from Treebeards statements about no entlings being around without the entwives, there would have to be an introduction of another races genetics in order to begin the evolution from Entwife to Hobbit. That is of course unless you are assuming (like in Jurrasic Park) that the entwives have some amphibean DNA 8). So who do you propose would be the father of the Hobbits? Hmmm, that is a good question.

What if....um... Goldberry is an Entwive? 8). That at least fits some of the ideas for the Old Forrest, and makes an interesting idea about Bombadil.

That doesn't work too well though because it would seem that whoever was the bridge between Entwives and Hobbits must not have been too longlived or else Hobbits would certainly be more long lived than even the Dwarves, nearly immortal. He would also most likely have been very short unless you beleive the entwives shrunk as the bent.

Now before anyone takes me too seriously and posts replies saying how crazy or stupid I am, I want to say that This post is all in good fun, and may not be the best one to take too seriously. ciao,

Danny
