Legolas and Gondolin
Rune of Mirkwood

I read with great interest on the essay that discussed the Legolas and the Great City of Gondolin. In looking up the city at the Encyclopedia of Arda (which is on-line, gives clear and concise information on ANY TOLKIEN subject and name -), and even if the name, "Legolas" was given to another Elf in the First and Second Ages, the Legolas we know from the books and movie was not even born. The Time Line icon shown on each subject, including Gondolin and Legolas (the one WE KNOW NOW...) shows too far a time span had passed from the First/Second Ages to the Third/Fourth Ages. But a very good point brought up and interesting as well! Also, I read on Glamdring, Gandalf's sword and it has quite a history itself! There have been questions as to whether it glowed or not in the movie; if it glowed at all, it was at the Bridge of Khazad-dum and defying the Balrog...but the information on Arda states that indeed, Glamdring had the capability of glowing!
