November 2, 2002 Re: Dora-chan Moria Hi Dora-Chan :) Your question is actually common on people who haven't read the books. I think this is because the movie history happens at a time when Elf-Dwarf relations aren't that good, the end of the Third Age. Still, it hasn't always been so. Many years before the War of the Ring Elfs and Dwarfs actually bonded. You also must remeber that Middle Earth is a really vast land, and there were many different Elves and even Dwarfs were scattered throughout the mountains. Anyway, MORIA was built, or carved, by the dwarfs but, the Gate was an Elven gift, actually, Celebrimbor made it, so it makes sense that the words come in elvish regardind its maker and the peace beetween the two races. As a curiosity, Celebrimbor is also the one that made the three Elven Rings, and the one Sauron spied to learns its secrets, he was a mastersmith and one of the Noldor. Hope I've been of some help. By the way, as Tolkien lover i must tell you that if you read the books not only will many things be explained but also you'll find out that the movie strangely carries more detail and is full of treats to the book fans, so in a way, the movie is longer and deeper. May you hear this with fair winds, bye :) |
