Gimli and Balin
Numenorean

I was reading THE HOBBIT for the fourth (full) time through, and I noticed something.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but:

Gimli is the son of Gloin, and Gimli is also the cousin of Balin. Therefore: Gloin is the uncle of Balin.

Balin is the son of Fundin, so Gloin and Fundin are brothers (or borthers in law).

And Oin and Gloin are brothers, so Gloin, Oin, and Fundin are brothers. But names usually run throughout a family, and Fundin sounds very different from Gloin and Oin (And Oin and Gloin sound very different from Balin).

Did I do my logic right? Somebody please help me!
