To be fair on those who saw the movie first, LOTR Historian, I don't think the answer to that question is to be found in the original text.

Is it not worth pondering as to whether PJ has replaced Hama the doorward with Haldir the Elf, and how this affects the story?

HAS anyone got any info on Hama? [or, more importantly to myself, Imrahil?]
