November 18, 2002 Galadriel I was fairly disappointed in the way Galadriel was portrayed in The Fellowship. She is more violent and mysterious in FOTR than in the book, or even in the animated film. She never laughs, and she is, at times, even a bit scary. I can understand why they did that, but it was sort of a let-down. Later in the book Gimli challenges Eomer to a fight because he makes several comments about the Lady of the Wood being evil (though he never does fight him: ) She is much more...well...likable in the book (I can't say lovable because that just doesn't fit Galadriel: she is, after all, one of the ancient people). I just hope she will be a bit better portrayed in the upcoming movies. |
