Turin, Rivendell is not actually a remnant of Holin. It was actually established by Elrond just after the destruction of that realm by Sauron in the second age, after Elrond, having been dispatched by Gil-galad, was unable to finght his way through to Celebrimbor's aid before the forces of Mordor surrounded and sacked the city of the Elven Smiths. Fleeing refugees from Hollin's [or Eregion's] fall did make their way to Rivendell, but that kingdom never extended as far north as the Bruinen ford, and nothing of it survived Sauron's wrath when he found the Three had been spirited away and hidden before his final assault.
