Tolkien did not write allegory and did not intend to have middle earth be anything but his own fantasy realm, but there is such a thing as absolute truth and to not include things which are true (such as the themes of sovereignty which run all through his writing and subjects such as fate, free will and all such matters which get us riled up) is poor writing.

There is a difference between allegory and reflection of truth.
