To Chris 1 and Viking
Razors

To Chris1, I'm certain Treebeard is in The Two Towers - you do biefly see him in the trailer, though only from the waist down as he chases Merry and Pippin and scoops them up. Since he and the other Ents are responsible for bringing Saruman down, I don't think they could make the movie without him (not without some invasive surgery on the plot, anyway).

And to Viking, I remember seeing a clip in the making of TTT where Merry and Pippin are being dragged before a big bald orc who seems to be in charge. I assumed at the time that this was Ugluk, although he looked nothing like the Uruk-Hai from the fist movie. My theory? The big bald dude is Grishnakh, leading a band of Mordor orcs who meet up with the Uruk-Hai. The Uruk-Hai are now leaderless after Aragorn killed Lurtz, and Grishnakh takes over after bashing a few ugly heads together. Or something.
